VILLAINS Roadtrip: Asheville
About two and a half hours away from Knoxville is Asheville, North Carolina. I've met so many people that recommended Asheville, so I was super excited to take a day trip. Once we arrived I immediately understood why people love it so much. It's a perfect mix of southern comfort and eclectic charm.
I'm a coffee addict and one of the first things I do in a new city is try to find the coolest/weirdest coffee shop possible. It almost always happens that I find something. This time I have to give props to my boyfriend's brother, Stefan. He managed to find the dopest coffee spot in town, Double D's Coffee and Desserts. If ever you wished you had one of those mini toy houses, this bus fills that Playskool-house-shaped gap in your heart with a side of coffee.
The next obvious choice in our itinerary was the Biltmore Estate. In short, the Vanderbilt family was able to build the largest privately owned estate in the United States, because they could. What I loved most about the estate was the "frozen in time" staging of each room. Fresh cut flowers were dripping off every table and the rooms were very will lit and perfect for photographers. There were many movies filmed on the estate and a lot of the costumes were donated and displayed, which is always nice for the fashion and film enthusiasts.
Not even two minutes into our tour and WHAMMM...
There he was hanging out with his wife like the rest of us simple folk. My boyfriend and his bro were pretty much foaming at the mouth, and we convinced them to say hello and thank him for his contributions to LOTR, Planet of the Apes, and The Prestige. He was super nice and accepting of the praise and didn't seem annoyed with his fanboys.
